Baan Suan Sompong

Baan Suan Sompong is located on the Phahonyothin Road in Chom Mok Kaew Subdistrict, Mae Lao District. It is a junction between Mueang Phan, Mae Suai, and Mueang Chiang Rai. It is also located at the intersection of Mae Suai Road - an important intersection for traveling to Chiang Mai and Lampang.

From a wide-open field, it has become a 50-years-old longan orchard. "Baan Suan Sompong" is the home of life and a studio of Sompong Sarasap, a contemporary artist. He is the founder of 9Art Gallery, a community center for artists in Chiang Rai. He had also been the leader of the Chiang Rai artists campaign in the "Chiang Rai’s Art Gallery Project" since 2004, which eventually led to the formation of the ArtBridgeChiangRai (ABCR), which currently has over 300 members.
