Scenery of Between

Organized by : Seo Juno, Pandit Chanrochanakit

The father tells an anecdote to his son. It is a story that is closer to a folktale than a real-life anecdote; the anecdote is hard to believe. This documentary explores the nature of a narrative that is based on a “real-life event” that is transmitted orally.

Thus this documentary can be construed as a film based on a certain story-telling technique that encompasses memory and history. The story-telling process reflects a certain condition that reconstructs stories that have been either forgotten in the relational network of time and speed or banned altogether. In this process, this documentary explores the nature of both the narrative and the narrative structure. Furthermore, the film makes an attempt to wholly revel the structure and the environment of the anecdote. By doing so, the film embraces the various aspects of the story not enunciated in the story itself; in so doing the film constructs a narrative that is wholly new.
