Korakot Aromdee is a visionary Thai artist and designer whose journey is deeply intertwined with the rich heritage of Ban Laem, a significant fisheries hub in Phetchaburi. Fond memories of his childhood, surrounded by the bustling marine activity and the art of kite-making by his grandfather, ignited his passion for creativity and craftsmanship.

Drawing inspiration from the local techniques of binding, tying ropes, and bamboo splicing used in fishing tools and kite-making, Korakot ventured into the world of bamboo art. His brand, "KORAKOT," has gained international acclaim, with prestigious brands like Hermes and Louis Vuitton adorning their shops with his exquisite bamboo handicrafts. His unique masterpieces can be found in renowned restaurants, hotels, and five-star resorts worldwide, and he has proudly displayed his work at the esteemed MAISON & OBJET exhibition in France.

During his Master's degree studies in applied arts at Silpakorn University, Korakot successfully merged traditional techniques with modern artistry, resulting in a profound connection between local handicrafts and his bamboo creations. Beyond being an accomplished artist, he is also a community builder, providing employment opportunities to young descendants of Ban Laem's fishing community and preserving their cultural legacy. Through his artistic journey, Korakot highlights the interdependence between art, livelihoods, and local wisdom, showcasing the potential of a "Creative Economy" to uplift Phetchaburi and create sustainable opportunities for the future.
